Sir,

Re: 'Cash boost for coastal projects' (Tenby Observer, April 16). Please do not change Coppet Hall; it is a special part of Saundersfoot. Yes, better car parking and up-to-date public conveniences would be welcome; maybe even a few seats overlooking the beach and sea for the disabled unable to venture over the stones.

There is already a nice restaurant at Coppet Hall Hotel, complete with tables inside, and out in the sunshine, and providing a play area for younger children. The caravan on the side of the car park sells, or rents out, all beach paraphernalia and also sells tea and coffee outside, weather permitting - and, of course, ice cream.

The reasons for Coppet Hall's popularity, especially for families with young children are: 1. cheap car parking; 2. rural surroundings; and 3. easy access to the beach for carrying all the things necessary for a day spent digging on the sand, in the stream, in the rock pools and in the sea - even kayaking on the breezy days. It was better still before the sand dunes were taken away - but only we 'oldies' remember those Halcyon Days!

DE VALENCE

Meanwhile, thanks to Mrs. Kathy Duffield for writing to the Tenby Observer, May 14, regarding the De Valence Trust and the Town Council.

Tenby is badly served for a decent entertainment centre; without a ballroom, theatre or town hall for the locals, visitors or people from the nearby villages. Money spent refurbishing the De Valence would be well spent.

Dot Ridley,

Saundersfoot.
