After Tenby Playgroup recently staged a sponsored walk, which raised a total of £804.50, the group has generously decided to make a donation of £50 towards a cycling challenge by one of Tenby Leisure Centre's lifeguards. Debra Sanderson, administration officer at the leisure centre, was due to undertake the challenge of a lifetime by cycling 300 miles from London to Paris to raise funds for the charity, Action Medical Research, but due to medical advice had to withdraw from the race. However, her lifeguard colleague, Ollie Simon, agreed to take up the challenge in her place. On Monday, Tenby Playgroup children Billy Riley and Frankie James were on hand to present the cheque to Ollie and Debra (see right). "We wish Ollie all the best for the bike ride and are delighted to give the donation for the cause and also to express our gratitude to all the leisure centre staff for the hard work they put in," said Tenby Playgroup leader, Yvonne Williams. Monday also saw the playgroup present end-of- year awards to the following children (see above): Kieran Taylor, Joy Rees, Jasmine Coates and Elizabeth Treweeke for 'best attendance', while Isabella Piper and Jay Rees also picked up awards for 'best sponsorship'.
