Members of Tenby Playgroup gave their backing this week to the Town Council's plans to develop the Jubilee play area overlooking South Beach. Playgroup members hand-delivered a petition with 346 names on it to the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, at the council offices at the De Valence on Tuesday morning, to show the overwhelming support amongst parents in the town for a children's play area. Signatures on the petition, which states the notion that Tenby is lacking in adequate play provision and equipment for the under fives, had only been compiled since last Wednesday. Clr. Mrs. Kerri Durham, who is spearheading the scheme with Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, commented at Tuesday night's meeting of the council: "Congratulations to Yvonne and her team at the Playgroup for doing a fantastic job in getting so many names in such a short space of time. We're very grateful for their support." The town clerk said he would pass the petition onto Pembrokeshire County Council to highlight the need for the play area facilities in the town.
