TENBY Players' production of an extract from 'The Lion In Winter' was well received at the One Act Festival held last weekend at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven.
This annual event was organised by the Pembrokeshire Drama Association and gave the opportunity for six local groups to compete. The adjudicator was Irene Rostron, Goda Sasda ADB.
Hilary Harvey, chairman of Tenby Players, won the Western Telegraph Trophy for Best Actress for the role of Eleanor of Aquitane. Speaking of the award later, Hilary paid tribute to the invaluable guidance given by Barbara Fisher of Tenby Players, when she first joined in 1977. Hilary moved away from the area for some years and was part of Bath Drama and Dubai Drama Group before coming home to Tenby.
The Players also had several nominations for awards, including David Owen and Andrew Davies for Best Actor and the play itself for Best Production.
Directed by Len Harvey the full play had been performed for audiences at the De Valence, Tenby, and the Queen's Hall, Narberth, during April to critical acclaim.
Three other Tenby Players were also nominated for awards for their performanaces as members of another company.
