Neyland skipper and all-rounder Andrew Miller has been selected as the first Antur Insurance Pembroke County Cricket Club player of the month.

All clubs had been invited to nominate a player of the month and in announcing the award, County Club secretary Bill Marchant said: "Andrew Miller was chosen as the player of the month for May for his scores of 45, 48, 17, 43no, 0 and 42no in his six league innings, to aggregate 195 runs at an average of 48.8. As a bowler, he took 4-24, 6-44, 2-23, 4-27, 3-16 and 2-41,which was a total of 21 wickets at an average of 8.3. In addition, he held seven catches.

"Although we are very pleased to announce Andrew's selection, the Pembroke County Cricket Club is very disappointed with the number of nominations received from the clubs. We want to emphasise that the award can be made to any cricketer playing in any of the six divisions of the Antur Insurance Pembroke County Cricket League and that it is not just for division one players.

"Five nominations were received for some excellent performances by players in May, but all of the players nominated play for division one teams."

The award was presented to Andrew Miller prior to his team's away match at Lawrenny last Saturday, after which he celebrated by scoring 106 in a Neyland total of 182 for 7, but Lawrenny won the match by one wicket off the last ball of the match in a thrilling finish!
