Members of East Williamstion Community Council have given an update on play parks for their ward - including news of one closing on a permenant basis.
Three inspection reports for the September meeting were received by councillors and circulated.
Discussing the Broadmoor facility, high risk and medium risk items are still present, and it was agreed that Broadmoor play area would close permanently at the end of September.
Signage will be prepared, and the park will be locked up.
Local caravan park owners, however, have offered to remove all the equipment and renovate some of it for use in their caravan park. This work will be carried out by them free of charge in October.
It was agreed that prior to commencement of the clearing, a letter of understanding, defining the work to be done will be sent to the caravan park owners.
The clerk was requested to remove Broadmoor from the grass cutting and inspection schedule.
Some suitable signage explaining the situation will be obtained and put in place on the outer gate and the inner gate.
For Pentlepoir, funding of just over £40,000 has been received from the All Wales Capital Grant Fund. The quote for new equipment was over £80,000 so one item had to be removed (the multi-play unit) making a target of £70,000.
The Community Council has agreed to commit to pay £15,000 from its play area fund and £15,000 from general funds to make up the difference.
The Council has submitted an EOI and if successful can apply for funding to purchase the multiplay unit separately at a later date. A meeting to finalise the plan will be set up, hopefully before the Community Council’s next meeting in October.
There was nothing of note to discuss for the Jubilee Park facility.
