Sir, In last week's Tenby Observer there was an article regarding recycling generally but, more specifically, at the Pembs. County Council stand at the County Show. I was very interested to see that plastic was listed as recyclable as up until now there have been no council facilities for this purpose. Those of you who know me know that I have been trying very hard to get the council to provide recycling plastic facilities for a very long time and even had our own collection point at our premises. These plastic bottles etc. were then taken to an independent small firm that washed (where necessary), sorted and finally, squashed them. The volume of plastic became too much and we all had to stop collecting. On telephoning the council to enquire where the bottles collected at the show were going to be recycled, nobody seemed to know. Let's hope that Clr. Brian Hall is as good as his word and that 'recycling facilities will be incorporated into the waste management infrastructure in the future'. We will watch to ensure that they include plastic!
