Councillors in Tenby are seeking clarification on details regarding land allocations listed as part of the Local Development Plan.
An updated list of land allocations and large residential sites in Tenby, included in the LDP, came before members of Tenby Town Council in correspondence from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, at their meeting on Tuesday night.
Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown queried why the listing for the former Kinloch Court Hotel, overlooking the South Beach, where 14 residential apartments were being developed, had no mention of an off-site affordable housing allocation.
“The officer from the Pembrokeshire Housing Association that we met with recently, seemed to suggest that the Kinloch Court development had covered affordable housing needs, but maybe she’s got it mixed up, as there is no mention of it in the LDP update,” she said, with they Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall asking for the agreements in place with the developers of this site, to be clarified.
Clr. Dr. Peter Easy also asked if more information could be sought on land to the west of Narberth Road, that had recently been purchased from Pembrokeshire County Council, where it was noted in the LDP update, that private landowers had indicated that they would be submitting a planning application to the authority in the short term.
“I’m not sure how large this land is, and was wondering whether local residents knew that it would be sold. I think it’s best to ask questions now, rather than before any planning applications come in, so we get a head start, rather than have a situation like the Brynhir one occur,” remarked Clr. Dr. Easy, with the town clerk stating that it would appear to be a Brynhir scenario, on a smaller scale.
The Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, said that there would be a brand new LDP soon, so there would be scope for greater discussions on some of these items.
