With progress expected to be made on the development plan for Tenby’s Brynhir site in the coming months, councillors in Tenby are holding a Q&A session with Pembrokeshire County Council representatives next week

PCC was granted outline planning permission for a development of 144 properties in 2020, but progress on the scheme has been held up since the start of the pandemic.

In 2018, the local authority which already owned the 15-acre site, purchased the land for £4million using its Housing Revenue Account (HRA).

PCC currently hopes to gain full planning permission and start construction on the site in the coming months.

Tenby councillors have stated that they hope that the consultative meeting arranged, in the guise of a Q&A session, will give them an opportunity to air their aspirations for this site, so that they are ‘singing from the same hymn sheet’.

A priority for the town council is the Local Connections Policy, which will ensure that those with a connection to Tenby and the surrounding area are prioritised for the new properties.

Clr. Laurence Blackhall told his fellow councillors at a recent meeting that clearly TTC has a policy to be supportive of this development, but now need to look at specifics such as local policy allocations and how this works, along with the scheme’s designs and how within this area an urban park will be created.

Councillors will hold the meeting on Tuesday (February 15) ahead of their main meeting.

A Public Engagement meeting on Brynhir is also expected to be held at Tenby Leisure Centre in the near future.
