A Tenby councillor believes that a public inquiry hearing by the Planning Inspectorate to determine the outcome of an appeal launched by the developers behind plans to turn St. Catherine’s Island into a visitor attraction should be held in the resort.

With the hearing due to take place on Tuesday, March 22, at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority offices in Pembroke Dock, Clr. Lawrence Blackhall raised the question at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council.

“It’s a shame that the inquiry is being held in Pembroke Dock, perhaps we should write to the Planning Inspectorate and say to them that there are plenty of places in Tenby where the hearing could be held,” he stated.

Revised plans for the island which sits alongside Castle Beach were approved by PCNPA’s development management committee back in May of last year, subject to conditions set out.

However, the applicant, Peter Prosser, launched an appeal in November, to the Welsh Assembly Government against the planning conditions imposed on the project.
