Members of Manorbier Community Council have had their say on a proposed planning application for the village.

The application (ref: NP/22/0566/FUL) which has been submitted to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority by Nick Willis is for a change of use Foxcombe House to form a sports field, shooting range, changing rooms, along with a kitchen/eating area.

The proposals also include 20 x motorhome/camper van pitches, cycle hire, gatehouse stables, parking and an area for future alternative energy equipment.

After discussing the plans recently, members of Manorbier Community Council elected not to support the application with consideration being given to road safety and concerns over access to the site, with vehicles pulling caravans or horse boxes, along narrow roads and the entrance to the site being on a busy, fast flowing road with a community hall and playing field directly opposite such.

Councillors noted that there are already many caravan parks, motor home parks and camping pod parks within Manorbier and do not consider there to be need for any further sites.

Members stated that they did not consider that the proposed development would have any positive impact on the local economy.

The plans will be determined by PCNPA’s development management committee.
