Plans for a £7m ‘Sky Dome’ project have been unveiled by local holiday resort Bluestone this week.
Described as a UK first, the development, if approved, will see a transparent canopy (the size of a football pitch) arched over a massive 7,000 square metre area encompassing cafés, shops, a 600-seat amphitheatre and activities, including caving and a high ropes course.
The development site lies outside the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park area and plans are expected to be submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council next month.
The new all-weather facility is expected to take around 15 months to build and will be located on land near the Adventure Centre.
It is anticipated that SkyDome will open to resort guests in spring 2019.
Bluestone have said it would create an additional 300 jobs at the attraction and would generate an estimated £22m for the local economy over the next 10 years.
“We’ve got lots of plans for the facilities within SkyDome which will take guests on a journey through its winding, gently sloping paths, to a choice of activities for all ages,” said chief executive William McNamara.
