The annual dinner, organised by office manager, Mrs. Nikki Legg, ended the year on a high note for the Physically Impaired People of Pembrokeshire Association. Everyone enjoyed an excellent meal at Haverfordwest Cricket Club.

In the unavoidable absence of the chairman, Clr. Mrs. Beryl Thomas Cleaver, the president, Clr. Mr. Peter Stock, conducted the formalities.

In his address, he thanked everyone for their hard work and for the excellence of response both in the office and the Coach House to requests for aid from the public.

As a member of Pembs. County Council's cabinet, his remit was to organise strategies helpful to the community, and he pledged his support to future projects aimed at giving disabled people greater equality.

Mrs. Legg had organised a quiz for the evening, which was won by Mrs. Jeanette Jenkins, 2. John and Hazel Cook; 3. Mrs. Ann Goodman. Raffle prizes donated by PIPPA were won by 1. Cynthia Stock; 2. Valerie Stevenson; 3. Sian Lloyd; 4. Anne Goodman.

In the first meeting of 2003, members were informed that the 19th issue of the PIPPA Post had been well received by the public.

The title page, headed 'Wild Wheels', proudly presented PIPPA's latest purchase, two power trikes (wheelchair versions of the bicycle), bought with financial aid from Pembs. Small Grants Scheme, the Mobility Freedom Discount Shop, PDQ and Andi Petri, and the Percy Bilton Charity.

They will be ready for hire from the end of February, and give a very modern image for journeys through woodland paths, beaches with firm sand and stretches of the Coastal Path.

This edition also provides instructive information on many health issues, articles on disabled discrimination, hilarious extracts from alleged letters to county councils, a word search, recipes, and a prayer for the job stressed (applicable to all readers!). Cassettes or copies of the PIPPA Post are available, tel. 01437 760665.

The office manager reported on a frantic rush in completing the PIPPA Post and mailing it to members within the Christmas deadline. Abundant requests for form filling aid continued and work on the Web-site was nearing its launch date.

The Coach House manager reported steady wheelchair hire and two donations, an electric mattress raiser and a battery powered bubble seat bath raiser.

All PIPPA's supporters were wished a happy new year, and the next meeting will be held on February 21 at 2 pm.
