The Sealed Knot will be coming to Picton Castle, near Haverfordwest, this weekend, to re-enact the Civil War battle that took place there in 1645.

At the time, much of Pembrokeshire, including Picton Castle, was in the hands of the Royalists, having been captured by Gerrard. However, the Parliamentarian, Col. Rowland Laugharne managed to defeat the Royalists so that they were left with only Carew and Picton Castles. Laugharne then set out to take Carew which capitulated at once. However, the garrison at Picton held out for three weeks and it was only when 'as fable has it' that a baby of the household was snatched that the Garrison at Picton gave in.

The re-enactment of this story for the first time by the Sealed Knot, which will take place on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2.30, promises to be an entertaining spectacle. Normal entry prices apply.
