The photography of Royston Packer, who lives in Pembrokeshire, will be exhibited at The Torch Theatre Gallery until October 2.
Roy has had a lifelong passion for nature and photography. His business career took him away from his passion for almost a quarter-of-a-century, allowing him the time to only dabble! Now retired, he has devoted his time to all things photography, travelling extensively in the pursuit of stunning images. A passionate traveller to India, tigers are high on his list of subjects.
Roy’s main interest is wildlife photography, however all aspects of photography interest him. He is an active member of the Tenby and District Camera Club and has won numerous awards in Welsh and International Salons.
Roy comments: “As a local photographer, I was delighted when Mike Davies, artistic coordinator at the Torch, asked if I would exhibit at the gallery. It is a great opportunity to showcase my work locally. I travel extensively and this exhibition is a great way of illustrating some of the numerous animals, birds and people I have had the good fortune to photograph, in some wonderful locations. Photography is a wonderful art form. My favourite genre, I guess, has to be wildlife. The gallery will exhibit a cross section of my work. Wildlife, of course, people and landscapes. Oh and a small selection of my attempts at creativity, including some written word.
“I am very honoured and proud to have this chance to exhibit. I hope you can visit and I may meet you there. May I also take this opportunity to thank my wife, Jutta, for her unstinting support over the years, and to all my friends I have made through photography for making this exhibition possible.”
Through My Lens, The Photography of Royston Packer will be on display at The Torch Theatre Gallery until October 2. Admission is free and the Gallery is open Monday to Saturday, 10 am-8 pm. For more information, visit The Torch Theatre’s website www.torchtheatre.co.uk
