Pembrokeshire rugby fans will be in for a feast of rugby towards the end of October, with the climax of the Rugby World Cup one weekend, the local derby between Whitland and Narberth the next weekend and on the eve of that match, Phil Bennett will be the guest speaker at a special charity dinner at Narberth Rugby Club, on Friday, October 26. The fund-raising evening has been organised by Narberth rugby committee chairman, Martin Williams, to raise funds for the WRU Charitable Trust for players who have been severely injured. The former flying winger had his own promising rugby playing career curtailed by a leg injury eight years ago, but plays an active role behind the scenes for the Otters. Tickets priced £25 will be available in the next seven days from Anne Lonsdale, the steward at Narberth Rugby Club, by telephoning (01834) 860462. Tickets can also be obtained from Martin Williams by telephoning 07818 236201. Former Otters half-back Richard Morris, who is now living at Caerleon, will act as compere for the evening and will prove a popular choice with local rugby fans.
