Undeniably one of the strongest current forces in acoustic music, and somewhat quirkily voted Greatest Devonians in a poll - beating historic figures like Sir Francis Drake and modern day music icons Chris Martin, Muse and Joss Stone - Show of Hands will be attempting to take Milford Haven by storm when they visit the Torch with Miranda Sykes on April 30.

England's finest and most popular roots duo, and something of a 'people's band', Show of Hands regularly voice the hopes, fears and life stories of scores of people through song.

Inspired by a comment by Dr. Kim Howells that his idea of hell was three Somerset folk singers in the pub(!), perhaps the most memorable of these songs was Roots, a rally call for the English to get behind their identity and musical heritage. A song which found champions in unlikely quarters with some even calling for it to be the new national anthem!

An alchemist couldn't have come up with a more potent, magical mix than that of Phil Beer, former member of Arizona Smoke Review and the revered Albion Band, and the inspired singer/songwriter Steve Knightley.

Over their 17 years together, this enigmatic, indy duo have filled the Albert Hall three times over and have a fan-base of more than 18,000.

Spring 2009 sees the Devon based act undertake a month of theatre dates across the UK with a much anticipated first visit to the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven (along with Miranda Sykes) on Thursday, April 30, at 7.30 pm.
