A pensioner is celebrating after a phenomenal birthday fundraising effort.

Ninety-year-old Moyra Evans from Pentlepoir has lived in the village since she was born and has resided in the same house since 1965.

She turned 90 last week and most people would probably have expected to receive special presents to celebrate such a wonderful occasion.

However, Mrs. Evans decided to do things a little differently, marking her birthday by asking friends and family to donate money to the Welsh cancer charity Tenovus rather than receiving gifts.

Mrs. Evans has been a supporter of the charity for many years, having attended lunches, coffee mornings, helping with collections and buying Christmas cards.

A well attended birthday party at her house saw an amazing £780 raised and Mrs. Evans was delighted by the news of the collection.

Before retiring, Mrs. Evans worked as an accounts clerk in the post office in Kilgetty, before working with the electricity board in Tenby.
