Meeting of the Pennar and Bufferland Community Association held in February:
Matters Arising
Christmas Lights Prizes: Christine John reported that she had given the names to Maureen Colgan for the last meeting.
The grant monies from the Council amounting to £750 had been confirmed and also a bench would be placed on the land in recognition of the Council’s assistance to the Village Green.
The one-way system in North Street: The meeting was attended by two residents of North Street who asked what was the reasoning behind the proposed plans.
Tony Wilcox advised that at this stage it was a consultation because the issue had been raised by a number of residents. Approximately 300 letters had been sent out and so far 41 responses had been received.
Speeding in Military Road: Again the issue of speeding was raised. There had been a traffic survey which had resulted in information being provided that speeding was not particularly an issue.
This was because of the 70 percentile rule. Members present once again mentioned that particularly around school hours the speeding was rife.
Treowen Road Parking: Single yellow lines had been painted along the road, one part had been missed out because the day the lines were done there was a car parked there. Double yellow lines were to be extended in Owen Street by the School.
Newsletter
The matter was discussed and agreed that the production of a newsletter to be distributed in the community would be a good idea.
Treasurer’s Report
The balance at the start of the month was £208.19.
A request had been received from PCC for the receipts relating to the grant monies.
Tony Wilcox confirmed he would liaise with Nia Davies as the event would not be taking place until September
Any Other Business
Tony Wilcox reported there had been some car crime in Prospect Place.
Some suspects had been identified in Pennar relating to older issues of car crime there but no new crime had been reported for some time.
Scout Hall: The Scout Hall had been vandalized it was suggested by Tony Wilcox and agreed by all present that a donation of £50 be made to the hall.
