At a recent meeting of Pennar and Bufferland Community Association, a report was given on Pennar celebrating the opening of the London Olympics with a party.
Fine weather gave a boost to the party held in the grounds surrounding St. Patrick's Church and the Community Hall.
Clr. Maureen Colgan said the fine weather attracted a good crowd, and was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Pembroke Dock, Clr. Peter Kraus and Mrs Doris Kraus.
The committee of St. Patrick's Community Hall thank Pembroke Dock Town Council for the grant of £150 towards the bunting and refreshments etc., which made the event such a great success.
Among other matters discussed was abusive graffiti scrawled on a garage wall adjoining a Pennar footpath.
A member reported that he had recently noticed some offensive racist graffiti on the wall of a garage that adjoined the Bufferland Terrace - Treowen Road pathway.
Clr. Maureen Colgan said she would look into the matter, and see how it can best be removed.
'Fly' parking of vehicles in the parking places outside houses in Pennar Court was also discussed.
Rev. Roger Hart asked if anyone could determine the status of the parking spaces and the turning area or 'hammerhead' outside the newly-built houses in Pennar Court.
On occasions, residents find that they cannot get their cars out of the parking spaces because of vehicles parked along the drop kerb in front of them.
Rev. Roger would like to know whether the access road to Pennar Court was under the control of the council or the developer, and if the parking places were solely for the residents.
Clr. Maureen Colgan said she would make enquiries with the town council.
