At a recent meeting of Pennar and Bufferland Community Association, the following matters were discussed:

Measures to alleviate traffic problems if a proposed housing development goes ahead: Clr. Tony Wilcox reported that Mr. G. Codd (PCC area maintenance manager) would come to the site 'North of Imble Lane' to decide whether it would be necessary to construct a relief road to give the traffic from the two proposed sites direct access onto Pembroke Road. Residents living in the Imble Lane area had objected to the proposal to route all the traffic generated by the proposed new housing sites (a total of 159 properties), plus the traffic from the existing developments in the Imble Lane, Imble Close, Elizabeth Court and Springfield Road, to gain access onto Pembroke Road along Imble Lane. The lane was just 4.9 metres wide at its narrowest point where it joined with the Pembroke Road.

A plea for more Pennar residents to attend the police forum in St. John's Hall: Clr. Maureen Colgan said that the PCSOs serving the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock area would be pleased to welcome a few more Pennar residents and P&BCA members to the police forum, which is held in St. John's Community Hall on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 pm.

Help with funding for special projects and events held in St. Patrick's Community Hall: Ron Selby reminded the members of Emily Sheen's letter in which she outlined the new policy of the PCC Housing and Social Care Department regarding the allocation of funds to Community and Residents' Associations. Alongside the grants to cover the running costs of CA's, there was also a Community Chest, to which applications can be made for help with the costs of special projects that benefit both council tenants and the community as a whole. He suggested that the P&BCA might apply for Community Chest funding to help with some of the costs of putting on the Pennar children's fun day, e.g. the bouncy castle or pig roast. It was recently announced that the St. Patrick's Community Hall committee hoped to have the American old time country music group Old Sledge to perform in the hall towards the end of September, so he would enquire if this project would qualify for help with the funding.

A BMX bike track and skateboard course for Pembroke Dock?: Clr. Maureen Colgan drew attention a petition that that was being circulated around Pembroke Dock. It set out the case for the construction of a BMX bike- track in the Memorial Park, Pembroke Dock, and she asked all those in favour of the project to sign it. It was hoped that the facility was eventually be extended to include a skateboard park sometime in the future. The BMX track would be located on the higher ground towards the southern end of the park, where the tennis courts used to be, and therefore be well away from residential properties.
