A Fun Day is to be held at Carmarthenshire County Council's Pendine Outdoor Education Centre. The aim of the day is to raise money for Children Today, a national charity that operates on a local level to help buy vital equipment for children with sickness or disabilities. Events will start at 8 am with the opening of a car boot sale, with centre staff also on hand to collect donations and sell raffle tickets on behalf of the charity. From 10 am there will be a series of 'come and have a go' sessions which will allow visitors to turn their hands to archery, abseiling, a zip wire and a high ropes course. There will be a refreshments stall with tea and cakes available throughout the day. Gethin Williams, manager of the Pendine Outdoor Education Centre, said: "The day is going to be fantastic fun for children and adults alike. Along with all the 'come and have a go' events there will also be music and a real party atmosphere." Carmarthenshire County Council chief eexecutive Mark James is set to meet the 'come and have a go' challenge as he grapples with the new high ropes course at the park. Mr. James will officially open the facility at around 2 pm. Mr. James said: "The fun day is going to raise money for a tremendously worthy cause while hopefully being a very enjoyable event for everyone. The high ropes is yet another fine facility for the park." Council executive board member for leisure, Clr. Clive Scourfield, said: "The centre staff at Pendine have worked very hard to put together what we hope will be an extremely enjoyable day. I would encourage everyone who can to come along and have a go at the events, take a look around the car boot sale and maybe pick up a bargain or two." The event takes place at the Pendine Outdoor Education Centre on Tuesday, July 25. There will be an entry charge of £5 per car for those wishing to take part in the car boot sale.
