Sir,
Penally Village Carol Choir had its first go at making music last Tuesday and sounded great! This was quite surprising, since there was absolutely no requirement to be able to sing from the 14 people who came together for the evening.
The singing was led by Marion Graceson, who very kindly came all the way from beyond Narberth to get the choir started. As more people join, Marion hopes to be able to step aside for someone more local to take over from her, but we were very grateful for her expertise.
The aim of the choir is to act as a medium for bringing people together in a relaxed and fun environment and to keep the hall functioning and the village together as a community. If we arrive as a polished singing group in the endeavour, so much the better.
We shall keep going until Christmas and at that time see if something more regular will be a spin-off from our efforts. If you want to join us, please don't think that you have to commit to regular attendance - if you can't make it one week don't worry. We just hope to grow to a group of at least 30 people who will pay 50p each time to cover the cost of the hall and a cup of coffee at the end of the evening.
Our next sing song will be Tuesday, September 23, at 7.30 in the Village Hall. Please come and join us, even if you think you croak like a frog. More information from Marcia on (01834) 842878 or Judy on (01834) 844467.
