Sir,
As a regular visitor to Tenby and its surrounding areas, I write to tell you how disappointing it is to see rubbish accumulating around Tenby's town centre and sea-front. The rubbish is mainly made up of remnants of fast food containers, paper wrappings, cigarette butts, drinks containers and worst of all, dog foul along the roads and walkways.
I now find myself spending more time looking down at where my shoes are stepping and what they are stepping in, rather than looking at the wonderful coastline and scenery.
However, on a recent visit to Penally, only a very short distance from Tenby, it is a different story - not dog foul, or rubbish-strewn streets, but immaculate roads and paths, and not a sign of rubbish or dog foul in sight! Even though there are a number of commercial facilities: pubs, shops, camping sites and even a very popular nightclub, it still remains a very pretty and well-maintained village.
How can it be that a village under the 'cloak' of Tenby could be maintained so differently? Penally has set a fine example and surely Tenby needs to take a leaf out of Penally's book if it is to return to the pretty and charming coastal town it once was.
