The traditional and established Pancake Party takes place on Shrove Tuesday, February 20, 2-4 pm, in the refurbished village hall. This popular party is organised by Penally church's social committee. Including entry, the first tasty pancake is £2 and a second one £1. There is a raffle, too, and church warden Margaret Brown's speciality bric-a-brac stall. The Pancake Party is for church funds at a time when the headstones in the churchyard have had to be restored in an upright position to meet Health and Safety requirements. Local residents have noticed and welcomed this improvement. However, Penally church is grateful to St. Mary's, Tenby, for a generous gift of a £1,000 towards the total cost of £3,000. Everyone is welcome to the Pancake Party. February 21 is Ash Wednesday when the church begins the Lenten journey. There will be a 10 am Holy Eucharist. On Sunday, February 18, at 9.30 am, families are welcome to the 'All Age' Eucharist.
