The first meeting of Penally Mothers' Union of 2014 was held last Wednesday. The service was taken by Dorothy Durdin and lovely refreshments were provided by June Glennnerster.

The leader, Iris Taylor welcomed the guest speaker for the afternoon, Caroline Williams, whose mother-in-law, Peg Williams is a member of Penally Mothers' Union.

Caroline gave an illustrated talk on her fact-finding tour for Save the Children to Cambodia. This proved to be thought-provoking, with sombre moments on the plight of people in the past in Cambodia, and entertaining, showing how the children, though they have very little, can still look happy. Though the government of Cambodia provide buildings for schools and health centres for the people, they do not equip them. Thus Save the Children raise funds to provide these services for the people of Cambodia.

The members of the Mothers' Union held a small bring and buy sale to raise money for Save the Children and were able to present £80 to Caroline.

Members wish to say 'thank you' Caroline for a great afternoon.
