There were a few apologies for absence due to holidays and illness. However, those who attended thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

The service was taken by the leader, Iris Taylor, who also provided the delicious refreshments. These were served by Doreen and Mavis.

Iris then welcomed the speaker for the afternoon, Glenys Davies, who spoke about the Western Telegraph Talking newspaper, how she became involved with it and something of its origins and history. It was set up in 1975 and originally it was sent out on cassettes. Now they use memory sticks

Glenys went on to describe how the recording is put together and how it is distributed. It is sent through the post (at no charge) on a memory stick in a plastic returnable package. Over the years they have had to change premises, but now they are settled. There are four teams who each record once every four weeks.

Members were fascinated by this talk and asked very many questions. Thank you, Glenys, for a very entertaining afternoon.
