Among matters discussed at the January meeting of Penally Community Council were the following:
Village Tidy: The clerk reported that he had sent two e-mails to Mr. Codd, Pembrokeshire County Council, regarding the warden's position, but had not yet received a response. The council accepted that Mr. Codd had been heavily involved with the county council's response to the weather over the last few weeks which probably explained the delay. The clerk would contact Mr. Codd as soon as possible to expedite the matter.
Leaning trees: Clr. Thomas reported Grandiflora had been unable to carry out the work over the last few weeks due to the inclement weather. They would, weather permitting, begin within the next couple of weeks.
Christmas lights: Clr. Robinson reported that he had purchased the LED lights for the Village Hall and they had been fitted over the Christmas period and had been well received. There were additional lights left over which could be used else where at the next festive season. A discussion took place on the Christmas lighting and the need to improve it for next year. Clr. Robinson would make the necessary enquiries and purchases.
It was resolved that additional lighting be purchased for the Village Green and hall for Christmas 1010.
Footpath north of the church and blocked drains: County Clr. Cavill reported that she had contacted the county council and the path had been cleared. As far as she was aware, the blocked drains had also been cleared.
Village Hall parking: The clerk reported that he had received an e-mail reply from the solicitors confirming that he still represented the land owners and that he would contact them regarding the matter and respond accordingly.
Shelter packs: Clr. Thomas reported that he had obtained four packs from Shelter.
It was resolved that Clr. Thomas retain one, the WI and County Clr. Cavill should each have a copy and the clerk should retain one on file and a notice be displayed on the village notice board indicating where the public can obtain further information locally.
Planning Matters
Oxland Cottage, The Ridgeway, Penally - alterations and extensions (Having examined the application there were no objections to the application)..
Wychwood, Penally - erection of domestic extension. This was a notification of the date of the appeal against the refusal of the application. There had been no objection by Penally Community Council to the application so it was felt that there was no need to attend the hearing.
Correspondence
A letter was received from Penally Short Mat Bowls Club updating the council on the success of the youth membership at the recent Pembrokeshire Under 16s Championship where Aaron Lloyd won the title. The council were thanked for their support of the club and the youth section in particular. The clerk was to send a letter of congratulations.
Request
for Funds
Pembrokeshire Young Farmers - Following a brief discussion, it was agreed that no contribution be made.
Matters for Further Consideration
Christmas carol service: Everyone agreed that the service had been excellent. The use of the village hall for the majority of the service due to extreme weather had worked well.
Letters of thanks were to be sent to the choir, Rev. John, Father Christmas and the Village Store for their help and contributions.
The next meeting will be at 7.15pm on Wednesday, February 10.
