Penally Church MU welcomed Mothers Union members from Narberth Deanery and the speaker, Heather Jenkins from Aberystwyth.

The September meeting began with a Eucharist at which team vicar Michael John presided and enrolled Peg Williams as an MU member. Peg, an enthusiastic gardener, knows she will be among friends at the church and in the branch.

Heather Jenkins spoke about AFIA (the 'Away From It All' project) which is responsible for choosing families for Plant Dewi. The Rectorial Benefice books caravans at Kiln Park during May and September, paying £1,500. This is part of their outreach and MU's within the deanery provide a 'Welcome' box of groceries for families on their arrival who otherwise would be unable to have a holiday.

This, said Heather Jenkins, "is the Mothers Union reaching out to people in the community who are in need and who appreciate this generosity."

Afterwards, a splendid tea was provided by members who enjoyed being together and hearing about forthcoming meetings.

On October 29, Rev. Rhobert Pattinson will speak about his 'Russian Holiday.'

On November 19, there will be a coffee morning, with an emphasis on Christmas gifts.

Sue Baldwin, on the staff of Tenby Museum, talks about local history on November 26, while the MU Christmas lunch is on December 17.

St. Nicholas and St. Teilo's Church Advent lunch will be on December 5 for the work of the RNLI.
