An excellent £2,300 has been raised for the Churchyard Restoration Appeal. Church and village came together in May for 'The Penally Experience' based on an idea and inspiration and led by Iris Taylor. The cultural events of the arts and music raised £1,300. The target for the appeal was £2,000. Iris Taylor and Mavis Lees had already launched the 'Monster Raffle' with a team of ticket sellers who raised another £1,000. A big thank you to those who bought and sold the tickets. One of the highlights of this year's 'Penally Horticultural and Craft Show' was the draw of the 'Monster Raffle.' The prizes were given generously by those who often support the village life. Ann O'Conner, of Manorbier, won the first prize. She will have a free flight over Pembrokeshire. The second prize, given by Penally Abbey Hotel, was a meal for two, won by Lady Meyrick. The third prize, given by 'The New Overlander Restaurant', was a meal for two, won by Captain Westmacott, of Tenby. The fourth prize was a magnificent quilt made and given by craftswoman Iris Taylor and won by Mike Brew. There were five other prizes in the 'Monster Raffle'. The £2,000 target was exceeded and regarded as a wonderful result, which involved many people who are encouraged and delighted. "We hope in future that new residents will come and share in our Penally's life as new initiatives are announced," said a spokesperson. "This recent project has given everyone involved an impetus for future activities."
