On January 18, being the third Sunday in the month, it is time again at St. Nicholas and St. Teilo's for the popular informal Family Eucharist at 9.30 am. The children will be taking part. The church celebrated Christmas with imagination and style. The Christingle Service, led by team vicar Michael John, assisted by the curate, Dennis Baxter, welcomed many children, parents and grandparents to the service. Penally village schoolchildren sang well known Christmas music and their presence in church reminded everybody how important the school is in the village. The welcoming and hospitable 'Coffee Stop' enabled many to share in mince pies and coffee. The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols created a sense of occasion as members of the church read the lessons and St. Mary's Church Choir, directed by Dr. John Harrison, sang carols with sensitivity and a lovely tone. The church's well known reputation for abundant hospitality was shared over mulled wine. The Crib Service on Christmas Eve filled the church in a joyful celebration as the children brought their cribs to be blessed. On a beautiful Christmas morning, the congregation celebrated God's unique and radical way in coming to transform our lives. The Jesus who we love and trust and who gives us hope for the future renewing our sense of purpose in 2006.
