With eight pairs enjoying another afternoon of duplicate, the results were quite close at the top. Joint first on 61.31 per cent were Brenda Badham with Celia Rossiter and Mike Taylor with Jan Russell and then in joint third were Christine Wilson with Derek Thompson and Derek Thomas with Alan Hassall, all on 55.36.

Even though 28 hands were played, there were no slams, though one hand was bid to game four times and 12 tricks were made each time and for all that effort everyone scored equal points, ah well.
