With five full tables on our first meeting of the year, some must have been glad of an excuse to get out of the house. Among the players were Gordon James, celebrating his birthday, and new face to the club, David Pryse-Lloyd, a warm welcome to him.

Top of the heap this time were: 1. Alan Hassall and Derek Thomas, 63.69 per cent; 2. Mike Taylor and Jeff Thomas, 60.71; 3. Brenda Badham and Celia Rossiter, 59.52.

News for this week is that Mags Davis has decided to hang up the whip she's cracked since the club started nearly four years ago and plans to just sit and enjoy the cards in future. Unfortunately, this also means we can no longer guarantee a partner for anyone arriving alone.
