The Tall Ships Youth Trust vessel, the 'Stavros S Niarchos', will be visiting Milford Haven over the weekend of May 25/ 27. The Trust is a registered charity which was founded in 1956 under the name of the Sail Training Association and is dedicated to the personal development of young people in the 14 to 25 age group through the crewing of Tall Ships. The 'Stavros S Niarchos' is a 60-metre square- rigged sail training vessel. The vessel, which is a brig design, will be arriving with a crew of 14 and 15-year-olds who will have sailed the vessel from Dartmouth. Among the crew will be three from Pembrokeshire, whose voyage fees have been partially funded from support provided by Pembrokeshire County Council, Dragon LNG and the Pembrokeshire Branch Committee of the Tall Ships Youth Trust. They are Samantha Attwell from Saundersfoot, Olivia N. Osborne from Burton and David P. Evans from Pembroke Dock. Later in the year, the following people will also experience a voyage aboard either the 'Prince William' or the 'Stavros S Niarchos': Zoe Williams from Solva, Tangwen Roberts from Haverfordwest, Joshua Osborne from Burton, Thomas Thurston from Croesgoch, Philip Hillier from Milford Haven, Eleanor Stevens from Wisemans Bridge, and Christopher Ford from Haverfordwest. Their voyages will be from Torbay to Barry, Barry to Portsmouth or Folkestone to Poole. It is not possible for the vessel to be open to the public over the weekend because there is a crew change which will occur on Saturday, May 26. The vessel will, however, be able to be viewed from the dockside. The Stavros is likely to leave Milford Haven on Sunday, May 27, bound for Dublin.
