Pembrokeshire teenager Steffan Ciccotti, who finished third in the Texaco Young Musician of Wales 2009 competition, will be on national television this month when ITV1 Wales broadcasts three programmes on the event.

Seventeen-year-old Steffan was presented with the third place award at the competition's final, held at St. David's Hall, Cardiff, in March and hosted by former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones, after he moved the judges with his performance on the marimba of Fugue in G minor by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Steffan was one of five finalists to perform in front of a panel of distinguished judges and is a student at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester.

ITV1 Wales will be screening three programmes on the competition. The second of the regional finals is provisionally scheduled to be shown on Tuesday, June 23, the first having been scheduled for last Tuesday, June 16, with the final due to be transmitted on June 30.

Both remaining programmes are planned to be shown at 10.35 pm.

The Texaco Young Musician of Wales competition is organised by Chevron, owners of the Texaco brand, in partnership with Côr Meibion De Cymru, the South Wales Male Choir, and held in association with the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra.
