At a recent meeting, members of Pembrokeshire South East Energy Group formally accepted their new constitution based on the model from the Charity Commissioners.
The aims of the group are now clearly stated as being the promotion of energy efficiency and all forms of renewable sustainable energy.
Members were informed that to achieve the status of a registered charity, an income of at least £5,000 a year would be necessary.
The committee recorded their appreciation on the assistance given by Vanessa John, of Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services, in the drafting of the constitution.
Vanessa also gave a most interesting talk about her work in assisting the voluntary group to become established.
She also pointed out that if a community wind turbine project was to be undertaken, the most effective administrative structure would probably be that of an industrial and provident society.
Darren Gibbs from the West Wales Eco Centre informed the group that the centre now had funding for the encouragement of low carbon communities.
They were looking for six groups which would be interested in pursuing this venture. It was agreed that he would attend the next meeting of the group to expand on this initiative and explain the full implications for any groups wishing to participate.
The next meeting of the group will be on Thursday, October 23, in the Green Room at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, at 7 pm.
The highlight of this meeting will be a talk given by Jo Horsley, development officer for Environment Wales, a partnership of nine voluntary organisations which aims to achieve sustainable improvements to the Welsh environment through practical projects and to increase the understanding of sustainable development and the environment through information, education and advisory services.
