Tenby County Club (sponsored by LG Leisure) played their final premier league game away to Eddie's Snooker Bar in Haverfordwest and were 3-2 winners. The first frame saw captain Glyn Davies take on Eddie Collins. Eddie broke off with a smash of the reds, letting Glyn in early, but once again he didn't capitalise. It left Eddie to pick him off with ease and meant another defeat for Glyn. The second frame saw our steward, Malcolm John, take on Rhys Morgan. Mac started well against a renowned potter in Rhys. This game was all about Mac's 100 per cent record in the league, which he and, indeed, the team were very glad of. However, as the game went on, the exuberance of Rhys wore Mac down, but Mac's battling qualities never faded and as the game went to the brown he was only 14 points behind. Mac then took the brown, blue and pink to leave a black ball game, which he again took, to keep us in the premier league and to maintain his 100 per cent record in the league - well done our super star! The third frame saw Steve Cook take on Dean Hayden. Steve, playing to protect his 92 per cent average, has been in good form of late and this was no exception. Putting on a good show for the large crowd (he was loving every minute of it), Steve was never in trouble and closed out the frame quite comfortably. The fourth frame saw Mark Cleevely take on Ray Hoare. At this stage Tenby were 2-1 up and an overall win was on the cards if Mark could play like everyone knows he can. Mark started very well, obviously determined to put on a show and prove what a class player he really is. And he certainly did that, producing a fine display of potting with a 59 clearance - it was absolutely superb. The last frame saw Martin Durham take on Martin Davies. The Tenby man started slowly, as he usually does, but then got into his stride, only for a mis- cue - the third time in this frame (he must get his tip sorted out and ready for next season) - to land him in trouble. This was proving a close frame, with the Eddie's man edging it. Martin needed to react and, coming to the colours, was just six points behind, but a foul on the green let the Eddie's man in to win the frame. Tenby and County Club snooker team would like to thank the Observer for publishing their reports; sponsors LG Leisure for their continued support; and Malcolm John for his expertise in cleaning the tables and generally keeping them in good order. Special thanks also go to their main and only supporter, Nicki Cook, who has not missed a week and is always ready to drive the team, and finally the team: Glyn Davies, Steve Cook, Mark Cleevely, Martin Durham, Paul Harries, Kevin James, Dave Wooles, Peter Handicott, Darren Morgan and Malcolm John.
