MAIN LEAGUE

Hook's fine win against Tabernacle this week now places them three points clear of Freystrop at the top of the Hyundai Main League. Tabernacle took the doubles to give them their two points, but they remain fourth from bottom. The Hook rink of Julie Hudson, Eileen Hughes, Simon Lewis and Marley Hughes played excellently.

Penally were on top form playing away at Narberth on February 11, taking all eight points. However, the singles and doubles were very close, with six shots to seven in both games. Penally's rink romped their way to a 19 shots to two win. Well done to Ruth Williams, Clarice Upham, Bill Jenkins and Luke Guymer.

There was a very welcome win for East Williamston by 7-1 on February 7 against Tavernspite, but they needed the final bowl in both the singles and the doubles to decide the points.

Finally this week, Welfare hosted Phoenix and took five points. Welfare started well by taking the singles, but a draw ensued between Welfare's Brenda Mainwaring and Queenie Thomas and Phoenix's Shirley Lewis and Jackie Ward in the doubles. Welfare took the triples and Phoenix finished off by grabbing another two points in the rinks.

PRESIDENT'S LEAGUE

Only three sets of results were received in the Hyundai President's League again this week!

Firstly, Penally versus Narberth on February 9. Penally played well and took six points to Narberth's two. Dilwyn had the best of the first few ends, but allowed Gordon to come back to win the singles. Linda was 'Cooking on Gas' and Jo was on 'doubles' - a very close game with Narberth just edging five ends to Penally's four. On the last end, Pearl put a bowl right behind the jack and so did Phyllis; Narberth could not move them, no matter how hard they tried.

In a match from last week, Letterston played away at East Williamston and came away victorious with a 6-2 win. East Williamston managed only the doubles for their two points, but they still sit in second position in the league.

Finally, Letterston hosted Freystrop and considering that last week saw Freystrop's league position a great deal healthier than Letterston's, it was a surprise result!

Letterston were absolutely on fire and took every single point to win 8-0. Well done.
