Last week's fixtures in the main section of the Station Garage (Hyundai) Pembrokeshire Short Mat Bowls League saw two of the favourites for the title play each other when Hook travelled to Penally. After a tense start, Penally soon got into their mats and earned a deserved victory by 6-2.

Elsewhere, Letterston continued their good form, beating East Williamston 7-1, A. Streeter taking the solitary point.

In the Presidents, Hook take over top spot from Penally after beating Tavernspite 6-2, while Penally were beaten by Phoenix 5-3, with the Phoenix pairing of Maureen Lavis and Clive White recording a fine win.

Merlins Bridge kept their unbeaten record by seeing off the challenge of Letterston, 6-2, and this victory sees them stay in third spot.

Freystrop had a good win away from home at Tabernacle A, taking six points.

The bottom of the table clash saw East Williamston B defeat Tabernacle B 6-2, the rinks being the only ones to lose against an in-form Tabernacle rink skipped by Leslie Ann Thomas.

Crundale travelled to East Williamston A and went down 6-2 after a tense and close game, losing the doubles and the rinks by the odd shot.
