Pembrokeshire Schools taught their South Ceredigion counterparts a lesson in finishing at Camrose in an interesting match played in windy conditions.

Both teams took a while to settle, but with Pembs. playing down the slope a score for the home team seemed most likely, even though South Ceredigion put in the odd dangerous counter-attack that was dealt with by Joey Jones and Jason Clarke at left and right back, respectively.

Greg Brown had a good debut alongside Steffan James in midfield and Lewis Davies showed his versatility playing on the wing and in the centre of the park. Jay Brockway made a welcome return to the squad, coming on during the first-half.

Daniel Richards opened the score for the home team, coolly beating the goalkeeper after a neat through ball from Steffan James. This was followed by Ashley Bevan shooting in from the narrowest of angles to give his team a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Pembs.' attacking moves paid off again as a fierce cross-shot from Bevan hit the crossbar to fall in the path of Thomas Glover who enthusiastically hit the net from close range to put his team 3-0 in front at the interval.

The second-half was to be a test of Pembs.' stamina, defending the goal with a facing wind, but the all-round efforts of the players gave the team a good shape and Ashley Bevan added to the score early in the half.

Although 4-0 behind, Ceredigion kept trying, with both wingers showing some skills.

Finding some space around the Pembs.' penalty area, Ceredigion reduced the areas to make the score 4-1 with 15 minutes left. There was a lengthy stoppage when two Ceredigion forwards collided with each other and Pembs. stepped up the pace during the last quarter of the match. Liam Aldridge and Stephen Dockerty showed up well when they ran on during the second-half.

With Pembs.' understanding and shape improving all the time, there were desperate scrambles in the Ceredigion penalty area, with a handball resulting in a penalty which Ashley Bevan duly fired past the goalkeeper.

At 5-1 behind, Ceredigion were still prepared to counter-attack and Aaron Lincoln in the Pembs. goal made two or three good saves after being out of the match for long periods, behind the solid central defence of Jordan Harding and Alex Harley.

Daniel Richards shot home from a narrow angle on the Pembs. left-hand side of the pitch to make the score 6-1 and frustrate Ceredigion's efforts to make a closer game of it.
