A large audience was treated to a memorable evening at Saundersfoot's Regency Hall on Saturday when the village's Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs staged a Social Musical Evening in aid of the Tsunami Appeal The Quaynotes Choir, conducted by their MD Glyn Evans, provided the opening act and all looked resplendent in their black and silver attire. The soloists, Val Evans and Colin Clarke, enhanced this musical feast of songs from the shows and the talented pianist Sharon Lusher accompanied all. Dennis Reed provided the humour for the night and won the audience with his captivating local accent and jokes of local personalities. His portrayal of the Rev. Caradog Evans in his cassock and then of Farmer Arnold in hunting pink had the crowd in stitches. The next performance was by The Four Just Men, a very talented group from Aberdare, who played nostalgic music from the '60s and '70s that made the audience want to join in with enthusiasm. During the interval, there was a raffle and thanks go to local businesses, Evans Newsagents, The Post Office of Saundersfoot, Instrand, Heywood the Butcher, The Mulberry Restaurant, The Village Wine Shop, The Mermaid Restaurant, The Cambrian Hotel, Graham Evans Estate Agents, Frosts Hardware, The Spar and Bronwens, for generously providing the prizes. The second half of the evening had the three acts performing once again to an appreciative audience and when all was over it was realised that the night had been truly memorable and one that the local community could enjoy more frequently. It is to be remembered, however, that the proceeds were raised in aid of what is one of the most destructive disasters to have taken place, and it occurred on Boxing Day 2004 when the Asian earthquake destroyed so many people's lives. It is hoped that the victims who are still suffering will benefit from such aid. Thanks to all that attended and took part.
