The Pembrokeshire group met at Caerfai Bay, St. Davids, on Saturday, for a walk of 10 miles, led by Denise Lane.
After walking up to and through St. Davids, the party of 15 headed for St. Justinian's by way of Lower Moor and Clegyr-Boia, grateful for the fact that some of the overgrown footpaths had recently been strimmed and cleared by the National Park Authority.
A brief stop was made near the lifeboat station where the stunning views of Ramsey Sound were much enjoyed. Continuing along the coastal footpath towards Porthclais, the walkers found seals and pups in practically every cove that they passed and enjoyed the raucous calls of the choughs at the same time.
Lunch was taken at the old copper mine which everyone agreed must be one of the prettiest picnic sites for many a mile. Afterwards, the walk continued along the coast path, through Porthclais until the party left it to view St. Non's Chapel and Well and the little chapel belonging to the Retreat.
Returning to the coast path, the walkers quickly made their way back to their cars at Caerfai having enjoyed a very scenic walk in ideal walking conditions.
There are two walks next weekend. The shorter walk is on Saturday and the meeting place is Penally Railway Station. The contact telephone number is 01646 683427. The long walk on Sunday is from Newport Parrog CP. The contact number for this walk is (01834) 831826.
