On Sunday, a group of 14 Pembrokeshire Ramblers enjoyed a glorious day of spring sunshine on a walk from Pontfaen in the heart of the Gwaun Valley.

This was a walk of contrasts, starting deep in the ancient woodland and then climbing up to the very open ground of Carningli Common.

Tiny new-born lambs were much in evidence on the upland slopes.

The views from the high ground along the length of the Preseli Hills to Foel Drygarn, Frenni Fawr and beyond were spectacular, as were those looking down over the coast at Newport Bay.

After enjoying a scenic lunch at Carn Edward, the group descended back into the trees and strolled along picturesque winding woodland tracks passing long abandoned cottages on the return to Pontfaen.

Everyone is welcome to join a Ramblers walk - please bring a packed lunch.
