Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society held their June meeting recently.
The finds of the month winners were as follows: coins pre-1649 (John short cross penny 1199-1216) - Kevin Higgs; coins 1649 onwards (Haverfordwest token 17th century) - R. Blacklaw-Jones; ancient artefact (seal matrix circa 1700) - Adrian Young; modern finds (Victorian cufflink) - Bernard Williams; club search (Elizabeth I threepence 1579) - Tom Williams.
The society held its monthly rally at Nevern. Over 20 members had an excellent day out, but finds were few and far between, the best being an Elizabeth I threepence.
Two members, Jimmy Milne and Alan Grice, were called out by a South Pembs. farmer who had lost a tractor part.
After an hour of diligent searching, the missing piece was recovered and returned to the farmer.
The club offers a free recovery service to all members of the public who lose metal objects, on beach or land.
The club's phone number is available in the Local Societies and B Museums Directory, or on the website at pembsprospectors.co.uk
Monthly meetings are held at Haverfordwest Cricket Club, Dale Road, on the first Thursday, at 7.30 pm.
