Finds of the month winners at this month's meeting of Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society were as follows: coins pre-1649 (Edward IV groat, 1465) - Ken Duffield; coins 1649 onwards (Commonwealth half groat) - Phil Jenkins; ancient artefacts (Celtic Iron Age brooch) - Ken Duffield; Modern Finds - 18th cent toy cannon) - Bernard Williams; finds outside Pembs. (Edward III groat) - Trystan Johns; club search (Charles II penny, 1660) - Ken Lunn.
The society held its monthly rally at Llanraithien. Twenty-four members had an enjoyable day out and some interesting finds were made. Among them were two Roman coins which were barely identifiable due to encrusted deposits thereon.
One item remains to be identified when the finds liaison officer, Mr. Mark Lodwick, attends the next club meeting.
A free recovery service is offered to all members of the public who lose metal objects whether on beach or land. The 'phone number is available in the local societies and museums directory, or on the website at pembsprospectors.co.uk.
The society meets on the first Thursday of every month at Haverfordwest Cricket Club, Dale Road, at 7.30 pm.
