At the meeting on May 1, the chairman, Mr. Jack Tree, announced the death of Margaret Spencer, a club member for many years. She was a stalwart of the club and was responsible for organising raffles etc. for charities supported by the club. She will be sadly missed by all her friends and members alike. The finds of the month winners were as follows: coins pre-1649 (Portuguese Ceitil c.1438) - Steve Richards; coins 1649 onwards (Queen Victoria Florin 1874) - Sue Whybourn; ancient artefacts (Blackamoor statue) - Pat James; modern finds (18/ 19th century pipe tamper) - Trevor Davies; club search (16th century coin weight) - Jim Whybourn. In April, approximately 25 members had a day out in Wiltshire on a rally. Finds were not spectacular, but the weather was kind and an enjoyable time was had by all.
The following week, a rally for blind people in Pembrokeshire was held at Scleddau. Eight members of the club took blind people out searching (pictured). A few coins were found and other small items of interest, but conditions were slightly difficult, nevertheless everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks go to Mr. Cornock for supporting the club by allowing them to use his fields.
There are a few vacancies for membership left. Visitors are welcome to attend the meetings, held on the first Thursday of every month at Haverfordwest Cricket Club. Start time is 8 pm. The club website is http://www.pembsprospectors.co.uk">www.pembsprospectors.co.uk
