The guest speaker at the February meeting of the Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society, held recently at the Cricket Club, Haverfordwest, was Mark Lodwick, the finds liaison officer from the National Museums and Galleries of Wales, Cardiff.
Mark gave an informal talk about the forthcoming treasure exhibition at the National Museum in Cardiff from May 14 to the end of September this year, which the club will be organising a visit to.
There was a presentation to Jack Tree and Mary Seaton, outgoing chairman and secretary, in appreciation of all their hard work and commitment to the club over the last five years.
The winning find in the Ancient Artefacts category was a spectacular 1500BC Bronze Age axe head found by Jack Tree. Other winners were: Coins pre 1649 - Ken Duffield (Elizabeth I 3d 1572); Coins 1649 onwards - Adrian Young (William III 6d 1697); Modern Finds - James Giles (toy cannon); Finds outside Pembs. - Brian Laugharne (pilgrim's ampulla).
The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 4, at 8 pm.
