The Pembrokeshire Prospectors Society rounded off a successful year with their annual Christmas Dinner and Dance, which was held at the Cricket Club Haverfordwest.

Members and guests were welcomed by chairman Jack Tree, who said for the first time in the club's 25 years, they had reached maximum membership. He expressed particular thanks to Adrian Young and Margaret Spencer for their fund-raising efforts, Howard Griffiths for his work as club sites officer, and his fellow officers, Trevor Davies, vice-chair, Chris Holmes, treasurer, and Mary Seaton, secretary and PRO.

Jack then presented the cups for the Finds of the Year, which had been judged previously by Tony and Elaine Maz.

The Bernard Williams and Brian Laugharne Shield for Ancient Artefact of the Year was won by Adrian Young with an Admiral Vernon 1729 Portobello Medallion.

Coins pre 1649 Cup - short cross penny 1190s (Mike Brown).

Coins 1649 onwards Cup - William and Mary half crown 1689 (Ted Owens).

Modern Finds Cup - silver brooch with anchor and flowers design (Mike Brown).

Finds outside Pembrokeshire Cup - dolphin type Roman brooch 1st/2nd century (Chris Holmes).

Gold Coin Cup - George IV 1827 sovereign (Paul Duffield).

Points cup - for most points in monthly competitions (Mike Brown).

Jack and Pearl Tree Cup for club search - four Victorian silver coins (Trevor Davies).

Yellow Welly - for finding the same cannon balls twice (Jack Tree).
