Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Football Squad continued their Tom Yeoman Shield Welsh Schools' campaign by taking eight points against Afan Nedd at Bridge Meadow on Sunday.
Although dropping points, they still remain unbeaten so far this season with two more rounds to play.
Pembrokeshire A 1 Afan Nedd A 1
Pembs. boys settled down quickly and competed well against a strong Afan Nedd side. Ben Aldred and Scott Jones combined well, while Matthew Dickinson, Harry Goforth and Billy Truman all defended bravely. George Taylor and Jack Parkinson ran well on the flanks and Natty John played well in goal.
Aldred scored first for Pembs. and then Afan Nedd pulled one back just before half-time.
Luke Raymond came on in the second half and Pembs. went close on several occasions, but they could not score that vital goal.
Pembrokeshire A 5 Afan Nedd B 1
Pembs. produced some lovely football, resulting in Taylor scoring two good goals and forcing an own goal from a corner. Jones added a fourth and Raymond a fifth, before Afan Nedd scored a consolation goal, resulting in Pembs. taking all three points.
Pembrokeshire B 4 Afan Nedd B 1
Pembs. started out strongly, with Dafydd Bevan and Tom Meophan attacking well. Jake Davies and Geraint Harries worked hard in midfield. Leon Williams once again scored the first vital goal, with Patrick Pearce adding two more and Curtis Hicks scoring on his debut. William Bateman and Nathan Ammesley-Rees tackled well and Ben Pepper made an impressive debut in goal. Afan Nedd again scored a consolation goal, but the Pembs. boys were too strong for them.
Pembrokeshire B 0 Afan Nedd 0
This was a very close game, with both sides capable of winning. Pembs. had several chances to score, but when Afan Nedd counter-attacked, the boys defended strongly, with Pepper making some good saves.
