Pembrokeshire Schools hosted Rhondda Cynon Taf Schools in their second Tom Yeoman fixture last weekend at Camrose AFC. Pembrokeshire A played RCT A in their opening game. This was a very close match, with Pembs. scoring first through Declan Escott. However, their elation was short-lived, with RCT equalising minutes afterwards. Once again, Liam Gammer and Spencer Williams did a sterling job in defence, making some last-ditch tackles. Owen Coombes was outstanding in central defence and Adam John worked tirelessly in midfield. Escott scored again, but Pembs. were unlucky when, defending a good cross by RCT, they put the ball in the back of their own net. Final score 1-1. Their second match against the RCT B side was a frustrating one. Pembs. had plenty of the ball, with Scott Ferney, Gavin Jenkins and Escott all going close. Lloyd Hughes saved the day with minutes to spare as his low shot beat the 'keeper just inside the post. Bradley Hewett defended strongly and William Davies pulled of a good save to help the Pembs side earn three points. Pembs. B met RCT B in their first match and they dominated the game from start to finish. Marc Boswell scored first and Patrick Pearce added another shortly afterwards. Joey Lewin rounded off a fine debut with a third goal and Corey Walters added their fourth to put Pembs. firmly in the driving seat. Dylan Rees and Sam Perrett linked well with Aiden Rainbow, while Marcus Blair looked good created plenty of chances from the right flank. Final score Pembs. 4 RCT 0. Against the RCT A side, Pembs. B controlled the pace of the game. Lewin scored the first goal after some good passing by the squad. Pearce added a second and by now RCT looked ragged. Llyr Miles in the Pembs. goal had very little to do and Grant Overend made a good contribution to the team effort. Boswell scored the third to finish off a very good display by the whole squad. Final score Pembs. 3 RCT 0. The results meant that Pembs. picked up 10 out of the 12 points available and are in a strong position in the league after two rounds of the competition. Pembs.
